restaurant in SW11
Working within a limited budget, FORM brought a new style of restaurant design to a residential area of London. A significantly different tonal palette together with the introduction of restrained open spaces reflected what was the first wave of unpretentious but high quality cuisine provided in an informal atmosphere.
The existing space, culled from two adjoining shops, was ill-defined and a solution was required to create a single space. New casings and coloured planes were introduced, giving an apparent logic to the enclosing envelope and better managing the two sub-spaces, with a strong mirrored cross-axis linking and bisecting them. This combination, together with openings punched through the interior, ensured that every table had a different outlook on, and involvement with, the entire restaurant.
