new build house in Surrey

FORM have gained planning consent to demolish a mock Tudor house within a 1980s executive housing development in Cobham, Surrey, and replace it with a property that integrates a palette of local building materials, including brick, render, timber and slate roof tiles, abstracted into a highly contemporary solution.

On approaching, where you might have expected to see the usual driveway with 4x4, you will instead find a parterre garden with discrete parking and garaging to one side. The house is entered by crossing a ‘moat’ via a timber bridge, with the water illuminated from below at night. The two, 2-storey gabled wings, offering separate accommodation for family and guests, will be linked in the heart of the house by a double height, fully glazed dining hall. Custom designed windows will capture specific views of the landscaped garden and swimming pool, including from the tub in the master bathroom.
